Posted by Gandalph on April 25 2008 20:31:05

Football
Fernando Ricksen was left dreaming of an FC Zenit St. Petersburg v Rangers FC final after making a surprise return to action in the Russian club's UEFA Cup semi-final at FC Bayern München.

Pain-killer
The Dutch defender played his first 90 minutes of the year, and made just his third UEFA Cup appearance of the campaign, in Thursday's 1-1 first-leg draw in Germany. However, he told uefa.com afterwards that he needed a pain-killing injection to fill in for the injured Aleksandr Anyukov at right-back.

 Ibrox

Posted by Gandalph on February 20 2008 00:10:47

FootballThe ground that is loved by all rangers fans and players its self was built by a bear and this bears name is Archibald Leitch a Glasgow-born Engineer, who was involved with many of the main football grounds in the Great Britain rangers asked Leitch to build a stadium for them Leitch had never built a football ground before had taking the job on out of ambition and built rangers there first stadium but sadly on the 5th of April 1902 Scotland played England in an international match
26 people lost their lives. This was The First Ibrox Disaster. Many would have thought that Archibald Leitch carear was over but rangers called upon his services again and Under his guidance, solid bank terracing was built at both ends of the ground. By 1905, for safety reasons the capacity was reduced to 25,000. However within five years with further expansion, the capacity had once again risen to 63,000. The ground now had its oval shape.

The 1920's were a period of outstanding success for The Rangers. In 1928 they won their first League and Cup Double. They celebrated by embarking on building the grandest stand in Britain. With both money and space readily available, the club gave Leitch the chance to surpass himself. The Main Stand, which was opened on 1st January 1929, is widely acknowledged to be Leitch's finest work and is more lavish and expansive than those he built at Goodison and Fratton Park
After the second ibrox Disaster rangers knocked down the terracing and put 3 all seater stands and ibrox was the second all seater stadium in britain, behind Aberdeen's Pittodrie

The main façade on Edmiston Drive is in redbrick which rangers had imported from wales and still even today the brick work still stands tall and proud as the words finest football stadium the great bill struth said well many football grounds will be gone ibrox will be hear for a very long time and yet again the great legend was right again
